It is covered in snow. You will need cross country skis or snowshoes. At this time of year blizzards and whiteouts can occur with very little warning. Feathertop develops large cornices which may collapse, or over which you might fall. It is very exposed to the weather. Not a place for the inexperienced.
If you do not have much experience in the mountains you should find somewhere less exposed to get some experience. Try Lake Mountain or the cross country trails around Falls Creek.
