Hello
I plan to hike Mount Stong in July 2009 (as Kinabalu resorts appear to be fully booked :-(
Do I need to book anything? Or know anything important?
Can we just turn up and hike the mountain?

I would be very grateful for your answers!!
Thank you

Where's Mount Stong? Do you mean Mount Kinabalu, situated in Kundasang, Sabah?

Anyway, I've hiked that mountain before and no, you don't just barge in and say, "Hi, may I hike the mountain right now?" You need to make reservations AT LEAST half a year before to book for places at the small chalets up on the mountain to sleep over night. Lots of other things to do as well. For more information, you can always search the website of the mountain you are hiking and get more info on what you have to do.

Hope this helps!

1) First thing first,
a) Write your will
b) Say how much you love your family/wife/kids
c) Give them a big hug and say if anything goes wrong, be strong.

2) Have you mount climb before? If not then it’s better for you to book an experienced mount-climbing-guide-man. So that he could guide your group around & you wont get lost.

Ah! Almost forgot don’t forget your “mosquito repellent” because mosquito stings when you’re mount climbing/ when you're at the forest.

Oh! One more thing, before you go mount climbing, don’t forget to write on a piece of paper list of names to be contacted if your body to be found. Keep this note in your pocket at all times when you mount climb.

Sorry, don’t mean to scare you but certain outdoor activities scares me. And mount climbing is one of it.
