Starved rock is beautiful, especially in the fall. Bring insect repellent, water or other drink for hydration, some sandwiches or snacks, jacket in case it's cool, and please wear good, sturdy hiking shoes or boots. Also, please stay on the trails and get yourself a map of the park's trail system. There have been deaths there in the recent years due to people going off the trails and falling off cliffs. Otherwise, it's a perfectly safe place. Also, enjoy the waterfalls but be careful walking near them. I slipped and fell on my butt once near a waterfall. You'll find many good photo opportunities in the park. Enjoy!
