I just moved to Oregon from Michigan. What should I have for hiking? I hear there is mountain lions and bears, should I invest in a self defense handgun? I hear that the chance of being attack by a wild animal is slim to none, but I think I'd rather protect my girlfriend and I in case some batty like that did happen. Also, where is a good hiking place for me to checkout and is there any other suggestions?
