I love to hike and camp and am planning a trip for this coming spring break--mid March. I'm looking for the perfect spot to go. I love places like Rocky Mountain National Park, and even better yet Glacier National Park. The only deal is that in March those places will likely be under a lot of snow. I live in central Iowa, and want here's the criteria I have for the place I go to:
-somewhere that is about 12 hours away or less
-relatively nice climate (> 40 degrees)
-no snow shoeing type of adventure but I wouldn't mind patches of snow here and there.
-has to have a decent amount of trails so that I could hike around for 4 days or so. Either medium-long length day hikes or a 4 day trip would be fine.
-I love mountains but realize they'll probably have snow and so I don't require that this adventure take place there. I do want the scenery to be gorgeous though.
Where would be the best place to go camping/hiking keeping those things in mind?
