Hiking/camping during my period? Is it okay to...?

I'm going camping and hiking with my Dad this weekend at Yosemite. I've been there many times before, and there are no bathrooms were we're going. I have my period, and I was wondering if it was okay to bury or hide soiled pads/tampons? I don't want to take them with me. When I first got my period (first time) I buried the toilet paper under rocks, but is it okay to do now?

Thanks.
:-)
Guys, please don't say anything stupid....
I will have my period, not currently.

don't do that, yosemite is a BEAUTIFUL PARK and you technically ARE littering if you did that. Pads take a long time to decompose, and it'd be more easy to just bring a plastic bag specifically to place your used pads in that you can afterwards throw away.

Rascleat... is right. You shouldn't bury your soiled pads or tampons because of the time they take to decompose. They are made from synthetic materials (plastics). The rangers in Yosemite actually request that you hike out even your your toilet paper from the backcountry. Dedicate a plastic ziplock bag (or 2 if you want to double bag for extra security) for your trash and make sure that you store it in your bear cannister. Dispose of it at the first sight of a trash can. Don't drop them down pit toilets as the decomposition problem still remains.
