I'm thinking about hiking the Appalachian trail, but I don't think I can make the whole 2,200 miles to Georgia. What do you know about camping alone in the wilderness that I can make use of?
So far, I am prepared enough to spend a night in a tent, carry it for a few miles on a large backpack along with blankets, clothes, food, and water.
The only dangers I'm aware of seem to be gun-toting hunters, so I'll wear bright orange on my shirt.
I think I can stay warm in 32F degrees with blankets and layered clothing.
Do you have any other advice for me, especially if I were to do this for more than a week?
