High School Musical

I didn't think that High School Musical was as good as it could have been, but some of the songs were great, especially 'Stick To The Status Quo'. Looking forward to it's showing on Disney Channel in August.

Hopefully they'll improve the story line for the second one, but i doubt it.... It's all about summer jobs and a health spa where theres a talent contest. But zac efron plays a life guard, so he'll be half naked for most of it, so that'll distract me from the bad storyline

Two of the songs have been nominated for Emmys.

I think it comes to the Disney Channel in September (I'd have thought they'd premiere it over the August Bank Holiday weekend myself).

They've already started running advertisements for it, so it must be sooner than September.

I've seen quite a few when I watched The Suite Life and Hannah Montana yesterday. I was suprised that the movie wasn't nominated for Outstanding Original Television Movie at the Emmy's considering how massive it is in the States.

I wasn't - they only give "important" movies the noRAB, and ratings don't guarantee Emmy nominations anyway (as J.J. Abrams and Marc Cherry will testify this year :) ).

Here are the nominations that High School Musical recieved for the Emmys:

Outstanding Children's Programme
Outstandinf Casting For A Miniseries, Movie Or Special
Outstanding Music And Lyrics For Getcha' Head In The Game
Outstanding Music And Lyrics For Breaking Free
Outstanding Choreography For A Miniseries, Movie Or Special
Outstanding Directing For A Miniseries, Movie Or Special

Thanks to Tommy2.net for that

It's very well deserved. It is easily the most successful Disney Channel Original Movie, and it seems it had a much higher budget than the others. It could easily have been released in the cinemas.

High School Musical 2 (proposed title may change) is the sequel to the Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical, filming is said to start in summer 2006 and has been previously stated to release in August 2007.[1]. All that has been comfirmed is: Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad, and Taylor are organzing a talent show at the local country and golf club to which Sharpay, Ryan, and their family belongs to and where Troy is a life guard as a summer job.

* Bill Borden, producer of High School Musical, said the film was originally planned as a three-part telefilm (as its predecessor Zenon was).

* All the stars from High School Musical [2] to return for the sequel, as well as the director and choreographer, Kenny Ortega.

* This movie is going into production immediately after Zac Efron finishes Hairspray.[3]

* The soundtrack will come complete with brand new music. [4]
