High school, homecoming, dance questions?

I start high school in the fall. I have a few questions about the dances.
First of all, for homecoming, do you have to have a date? I'd rather go single so I can dance with more than one person. Also, what kind of dresses should I wear? I was thinking of wearing my promotion dress to homecoming but now I'm not sure if it is a little too formal (it's semi-formal).
Do all high school dances require you to wear dresses? In middle school we mostly just wore new tank tops.
 
better go single.. a lota ppl usually hav dates, buh yeah i dont like dates either... the dress is too formal... wear a shortish dress not the long ones lyk at prom, but if its an 8th grade prom dress then might go... also ppl usually dress ugly n boring dresses that dont look good on em... wear something really pretty n unigue [:
 
well i'm a sophmore now, & most of my friends & i we went as a big group wheater we had a BF or not. if you school isn't like SUPER conservative, they might want you to dress nicely but don't go all beauty queen. try like a club look with a lil more class. like short dress but not to short. you know what i mean. something trashy but classy. idk ahaha, but most dances have you dress up. i suggest you do tho. only becuase it's fun!
