hi, my sons windows media player wont start it keeps desplaying an error message.?

the error message is windows media player is not a valid win 32 application. i have tried to uni stall it and reinstall it but it wont let me.its windows vista that hes running.any help would be great as i am ready to throw it out the window.
 
Windows Media Player is a crappy player anyways. If I were you, I would use other players like VLC or SMPlayer. They both are free and they can play almost any video format out there ...
