...some sort.? This is the first time I have bought a car myself and I don't want any help from my dad or brothers as I want to be independent. I would have asked my BF but we recently split up (he was a loser anyhow). What I need is a really easy to read, hand holding car buying guide so I can go into the dealership with confidence. I have had a look on the web but I can't seem to find the right sort of thing.

You should try to find something with a good reliability record, and keep in mind costs such as fuel mileage, insurance costs, etc. The car that looks really cool on the lot wont be so much fun when it costs $1000 for a set of tires. Do you really need the sporty model? Decide what you want based on what you've seen. Check with your insurance agent. Go to several internet sites, such as kbb.com, edmunds.com, nada.com to check the prices. When you know what you want based on all these factors, walk into the dealership with confidence. Bring a printout of the figures. You will end up with something you can live with and afford. Plus have bragging rights to your Dad and brothers!
