Hi i have too diesal cars?

one an izuzu engine, with 138000 miles . The other a vauxhall engin with just short of 80000 miles. Both start 1st time in the mornings, but the one with 80000 miles on it makes a hell of a clatter. Is it the tapets want adjusting or the engine is not not run in yet? Any advice pls
