Hi folks. Having a problem linking my playstation 3 to my laptop. Anyone help please?

I've enabled sharing of folders from security centre (vista) and windows media player. I've also enabled media sharing from the ps3 and tried configuring my firewall (comodo) to accept incoming but still no joy. When i search for media from the ps3 it says none found. Nothing pops up on laptop either. Any help greatly appreciated!!!
Broadband wireless router. My ps3 can connect to the internet but not my laptop.
It definitely seems like the problem is coming from the laptop and not the playstation 3
