"Joyce Dear! Have you packed all the things ?",mother shouted from the stair case.
"Yep! Mom",I called, as I pitched the last of my sneakers in to a dusty carton.I turned around to glance at the room which was nearly empty except of the shabby table along the wall.
"JOYCE",mother's shrill voice pierced my ears once again which made me mutter under my breath,"what now!!".I went in the deserted hall towards the staircase. She was standing half way down ,one hand in her hair, and the other resting upon the realing, looking utterly dishevelled.
"Yes mother?",I said.
"Where's your Dad?",she asked in an exasperated tone, her eyes closed.
"Dunno",I said,shrugging.
"Joyce tell me some thing,"she said as she opened her frowning eyes,"Am I the only one responsible -for the things that go around here?".
I stared at her face blankly at which she added timidly,"Joyce Dear,Please don't stand here, looking at me like that -go call him".She went back, shaking her head in disapproval.I turned to leave before she shouted back again,"And Tell RON,if I found any thing unpacked in his room he's gonna regret it."Nodding rather curtly I went outside, knowing perfectly well where Ron and Dad were.
The morning was pale ,with a clear blue sky though snow on the window panes of the neatly, rowed houses was the evident proof of the terrible storm last night. The sun gleamed and threw its golden light upon the silent, mossy lawns with luscious rhetorical tiles.I pondered over the street and found Dad and Ron bunched around a small man,Mr Stevenson, our nextdoor neighbour, trembling all over from head to foot, holding a small book in his hand.Running over to them, I heared his croaky voice saying ,his voice becoming more emphatic as he proceeded"And then there will be Darkness For the Time Has Come For the Antichrist To Come For-".
"Hi-Mr Steve",I said,beaming.
Looking utterly petrubed over my interrupting, his small eyes wandered over me,trying to recollect that who was I .
"I know you?",he said scrathing his chin.
"Of course, you do,Steve",father said, thumping him on the back,"she's my daughter-".
"Yeah! Yeah!",he said, bobing up and down,"Now I remember her-Long time has passed since I saw her-".
"Right",I muttered, trying very hard to conceal my giggles,(only last night we had Dinner with the Stevensons).
"Would you mind listening to my small speech regarding The End of Times?".he said enthusiastically.
"No ,not at all-except that-Dad ,mum's calling you", I said,atonce.
"She isn't angry is she?",father said, his face becoming pallid.
"Yeah she is",I whispered as Mr steve's suspicious eyes darted from father to me as if it was a plan of disrupting his so called sermon.
"Bye,stevey."Father said holding his thin hand,"Ellen's callin'."
Mr steve stood open mouthed ,staring at my dad in a way as if he had done Great Treachery ,but then croaked loudly behind him,"Farewell,Alfy".
My father waved his hand in mid air as he jogged to his house.
"Hem ,Hem,Mr.Steve cleared his throat as he uttered,"Come on,let's once again indulge our selves in the bitter realities of this world."
I looked at Ron sulkily to get rid of him but he started off,"The World Will Become A living Hell......An Abode of Turmoil And Commotion. The Antichrist Will Mercy No One UnTill He Assures His Complete Sub-".He broke.
"Oh no",I muttered,"its mother again".
Mother's angry voice paved its way through the window and ranged on the street.
"NO SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY ! ALL NIGHT I HAVE BEEN AWAKE -DOING THIS DOING THAT ,BUT YOU -CANT EVEN FULFILL YOUR OWN DUTIES-THE STUPID HOUSE AGENT WAS IN HIS BED--".
"Honey I was about to call him -",I heared father's voice though loud but reluctant followed by mother's ,shriller then ever:
"BUT YOU WERE MORE INTERESTED IN THE PEPTALK
OF THAT OLD LOONY STANDING OUTSIDE -".
"Honey he was just-."
"I KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING THAT OLD FRAUD! AND YOu SHOULD HAVE REALIZED THAT BY NOW!".
"Honey! calm down ,"father said as he closed the window. And we heared no more.I looked at Ron who gestured me at Mr Stevenson. He stood, routed on the spot, staring fixedly at the window with a look of horror in his eyes, then struttering, dropped the book in his hand and scruttied away in to his house.
"Mr STEVE,your book."I called but he banged the door shut.Ron roared with laughter.
"Stop it,"I said though smiling my self,"I hope he forgets all this, like he usually does."
"Nah",Ron said,as we began to stride to our house,"I bet he's not gonna forget -not soon enough."Then laughing loudly he added,"Poor bloke."
