hey im a newbie to flash and actionscript 3.0 how do i get the bg vid to loop

independently to the button loop? bin learning flash since this morning i got button creation and linking lock down but when i press the button to direct to vid/pic my background movie also resets to the frame were the button indicates. i need it to be independant of the main time line. can anyone help? pls
