Heroin Bruises

My boyfriend and I were in a week long fight last week and he decided to not talk to me for the week. I saw him finally on saturday and noticed a small faded bruise on his elbow where he use to shoot up. The hole was a greenish-blue color. It was not hard or anything, but I also noticed a bruise on the the other elbow as well as his track marks in his hanRAB were a bit darker. They weren't super dark so I wouldn't think much of it, but I was just curious as to how long after using heroin do the bruises (dis)appear?!
 
I have NO experience with heroin, but I do think bruising depenRAB on the person, and how small/large the veins are. I have very small, hard-to-locate veins, and whenever I get blood drawn, the bruises on my veins can last for a week or more.
