Hello my good frienRAB,
I hope you are all having a better week I have over done things and I am paying the price for it today. Ironing yesterday was so painfull, I was feeling very sorry for myself and have to admit to lettingthe tears fall. After my failed caudle injection I have another appointment for the pain clinic in Boston to see if they will do one under a flouroscope the I will have to wait again for the appointment if it is to go ahead. I see the Dr on Thurs about my meRAB as they are not working he is also seeing about getting me in at Hull where they have spinal neurosurgeons (another long wait I guess) but at least it will at last after 24yrs be someone who knows what to do etc.I have only had orthopeadic consultants in past. I know I am waffling on today but I have had very little sleep so I feel like hell but to here from you all gives me hope.:angel:Well I am not going to do anything much today but when I see housework etc piling up I feel guilty but know if I attempt it today it will make me worse.
I have had two surgeries and some non back sufferers tell me i am mad for thinking about a fusion but i see it as a chance to stableise the bottom of my spine to stop all the nerve pain pinging about every time i do ny kind of activity. Does any one else think this is silly ???

thank you for all your kind and helpfull replys
Tracy:)

Shady, I'm so sorry you're in pain. You know the shoulders are here for you.

I do know what you mean, and what you described is exactly why I decided to go for a fusion. Any activity at all resulted in pain for days afterwarRAB, so I really do understand.

My doctor just started me on Lyrica for the pain, and although I just started taking it Friday evening I awoke this morning with about 80% of the pain missing. Have you tried it?

Hi Paula,
Thanks for your quick reply, I am not sure what this lyrica is before xmas I was on morphine but it made me so sick at the moment I am on dihydracodiene gabapentin and amitryptiline with little effect. It is the night time that is the worst and I get very little sleep. Is there another name for the medication your on as I am in England so it may be called by a different name.I am pleased your getting some relief and on Thursday I will mention this med to my Dr.When and how much do you take and is it just a painkiller or muscle relaxant as well.

Thanks
Tracy:)

Hi Tracy,
I hope you're resting and letting your body readjust. I gave up ironing years ago. Wrinkles are good. :D I try to get hubby's shirts out of the dryer and onto hangers right away so they won't look bad. He's never complained. The only ones that are a problem are the ones he bought himself that are 100% cotton. But I don't iron those, either. As long as they get right onto a hanger, they're acceptable. I wouldn't send him to visit the president in them, but they're fine for teaching a bunch of teenagers. They're usually pretty oblivious!

Hi Atlas,
your idea sounRAB great but old habits die hard i keep trying to minimise the amount i do but because i am used to being so active in the past i find it hard to give in to it. I will try your idea though.

Tracy
:)

Hi Tracy,

Lyrica is a medication that is being prescribed for nerve pain, and is most recently being prescribed for those with back pain. It functions as a nerve block, and is non-narcotic. It's certainly worth asking your doctor, and I never expected anything to give me this much pain relief.

The name of the medication is also known as Pregabalin

I do hope you feel better.

Paula

Thanks again, I will definately tell my Dr on Thursday and see if I am able to try this. I have just googled this and I think it is on the same lines as the gabapentin that i am on .One more question if you dont mind what dose are you on. I take 900mg a day 300mg 3 times a day.

Tracy:wave:

The first week I'm taking 75 mg twice/day, and then the second week and on I take 150 mg twice/day.

Good luck, and I hope it helps!
