Henry Ford put the Model T car on the market on this day in 1908 for the sum of $825.

How much approx would that be in present day US Dlrs pls?

A dumb Brit!

Henry Ford said at the time, "This car will run on ethanol, the fuel of the future". Right there then!?

According to the consumer price index $825 dollars from 1908 would be worth $19,176.81 today

Clive, you are no dumb Brit!
Although the Model T was quite expensive when introduced in 1908, the price lowered each year. In fact, by the 1920's, they were selling for about $265.00. Much more affordable at that price, wouldn't you say? Yes, ethanol was his first choice. It was only after Ford met with John D. Rockefeller, former president of Standard Oil Co, that he decided to run gasoline instead of ethanol, as Rockefeller was going to lower the price of gasoline.
