Hematoma on buttocks

This is my very first post and I am a little embaressed but I tried every other website to help me in my situation and I have gotten the exact opposite.

About a week and a half ago (Jan. 12th) I slipped on some black ice and fell down a concrete flight of stairs. The innitial hit was extremely hard and painful. I bruised about 1/2 hour after I took the fall. The bruise/hematoma got worse over a few days, I was very uncomfortable. I took the appropriate measures: rest, heat, cold, anti-inflammitories, etc.

Now, the bruise is just about gone, I am feeling much better, BUT I now have a long, hard lumpy spot just above where it hit. And the area in which I fell onto is now concaved in. I have a long hole in my right buttocks, right below my back. The tissue obviously shifted.

Is there ANYTHING I can do to fix this? Or, at least, make it a little less noticeable? I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks a lot.

I'm sorry to say it can take months for a bad hematoma to go away. You can have it surgically removed or drained by a doctor. The "ripple" effect in your skin should go away once the pressure is off.

You may want to get an x-ray to be sure there is no micro-fracture. Lumps sometimes form after fractures.

I can really empathize with you on this. I have pretty much the exact same problem. I feel very self-conscious of it, but I don't want to get surgery. I'm looking into exercises to rebuild muscle tissue. have you had any luck since you've posted? Hope you're ok! I'd really love to see if we can find a way to "fix it"...if not then maybe we can learn to come to terms with it... take care! :)
