My guy friend has a really low self-esteem. When I compliment him, he doesn't take it seriously, as if I were saying it just to be polite. But I really find he's an amazing person, he's nice and good-looking (indeed, I like him a lot).
He spends his time comparing himself with his favorite male celebrities, complaining how handsome they are and how ugly he is.
And he thinks that no girl will ever want to date him, and he said he will have to resort to a mail-order bride. I was very hurt at these words, because as I said before, I like him as more than a friend. But then, I feel that if I let him know I like him he will think I want to be with him out of pity.
