My name is Michelle and I am 38 years old. I have recently gone through some major surgeries and since have had issues with slow and rapid heart beats. I had a hysterectomy in December and two weeks later had an emergency apendectomy. While waking from anesthesia from the second surgery I had an abnormal ekg that sent me to the ICU. I have been suffering with bouts of shortness of breath, fainting and fatigue since. I was told that my EKG shows sinus bradycardia which should cause no problem. However, I was just hospitalized over the weekend because I fainted at work and my heart rate was irregular at 48-170 beats per minute. It was off and on and caused me to sweat, and feel light headed but not much more. ALL of the doctors told me that this was normal. Even when I was sleeping and my heart rate went from 50-130 for no reason, it was called normal. I was told that if I feel faint at all again to just sit down until it passes. I am following up with a cardiologist at the end of May and in the meantime will wear a 4 week heart monitor. I know that the rythyms will probably be normal but I don't feel that the rise and fall of my heart rate is......can anyone shed some light on this?
