Help work out what is wrong with my 1989 honda XR80?

ok,

Its an old bike i just got out of the shed but i want to get it going.

Went and bought a new spark plug today..

I can start my bike and it idles, but when i rev it, it dies.

Or when i release the clutch (and rev it) it dies.


anyone know what is going on??

got fuel in it lol.. etc..

I am thinking it may be the carby causing a problem???
 
Clean out the old gas. Also clean (or replace) the carburetors.

Old gasoline gum up the carb real bad. Often they need to be replaced (or rebuilt).
