Help with veggie public service announcement about veggies? storyboard?

My partner and I are going to make a Wellness Public Service Announcement about veggies for a class we have. It need to answer these questions:

1. What is the message?

2. What will happen in the production? Include audio and video.

3. Where specifically would you shoot?

4. Who will be appearing in the production?

Remember we are in a high school and it has to be 30 seconds long.

My message would be surprising facts about veggies.

I would ask a local grocery store or fresh foods market (a nice-looking one like Safeway) for permission to film - wait for a slow time, like 1:30pm when the lunch rush dies down, before the after-school folks arrive, or after dinner on a Wednesday evening (the slowest shopping day of the week).

I'd gather (and maybe purchase) the produce, since you want to handle and hold it up as you "advertise" it on-camera.

I'd appear in it myself, writing out the various fact statements and memorize them.

Ooh... I just had another brainstorm. Puchase the produce and group it on clean surfaces around the kitchen... you can then read your fact statements off-camera and not need memorizing. You could also use the fridge if it's clean and not too cluttered.

I'm thinking of fact statements (and food groupings) such as: tomatoes and watermelon and guava, which are high in lycopene, can somewhat reduce sun damage when you're outdoors (just be sure to still use sunscreen lotion).

You can come up with more or different statements yourself by researching antioxidants. Find out what protections you get from proanthocyanidins, sulforaphane, allicin, carotenoids and the like, pick your favorite three (I recommend using ones from at least three different color families of foods, partly because it'll look good on camera, and partly because dietary variety is important.)

Open with some "Did you know..." question to get people's interest. Close with some slogan like "Veggies: nutrition for life"

Hope some of this helps kick-start your creative juices. Have fun!

P.S. After you get your grades back, e-mail me and let me know how it went! [email protected]
