hi, my dwarf gourami is at the top of the tank now with his lips bitten badly i think it could be the betta but what can i do? what i have done now is just put a mirror in front of the tank so he feels he is in a shoal but what can i do otherwise

separate the 2 as the betta will kill and eat it. They have "walls" at the pet store, so they are in the same tank, but do not kill each other.

Betta's work with many types of tropical fish (I keep them in community tanks myself), but they are territorial and need space, so nothing less than a 10 gallon to keep them with other fish, and there are certain types of fish that don't work.

A gourami is an example of a fish that does NOT work with a gourami. Both are territorial and they will fight for space. Keep only one or the other or one will just die of injuries or stress.

A male betta is only o.k with female betta but that is if you want them to breed otherwise just put him in a tank by himself, have you got any female dwarf gouramis as they can also cause these injury's I had this with 2 female gouramis attaking the male he died as he could not eat.
Move the betta.
