Help with The Metamorphosis book questions?

why did Kafka choose to call his work THE Metamorphosis instead of GREGOR'S Metamorphosis? How does this one choice of diction make it apply to the whole family and how does each Samsa metamorphosize?

I was thinking because it refers to the Metamorphosis of his whole family. . his father changes. . his mother changes.. . and exspecially his sister changes?
