Hi,

Does anyone know how to get Nokia to repair my phone? I called Nokia support, but they said they can't repair my phone because it is not made in the US... I called Nokia Europe, they won't do it either but the phone is made there...

Anyone had luck getting their imports repaired?
My screen went blank, shows me a white screen... I can't dial or receive calls.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Hi, welcome to HoFo! I feel sorry for you but I think Nokia has policy not to deal with handset not originated outside where you live. Manufacturing country doesn't mean the repair center there will take care of it. Every Nokia has got a Product Code (check the label by taken out the battery) and it'll id where it's exactly sold in the first place.

Yeah, Nokia totally screwed me over with repairs too. They told me they can't fix it because I didn't buy it from Nokia USA. I really think that sucks because its the same parts and same phones, shouldn't warranty also be the same? I mean, they're MOBILE PHONES. of course we are going to travel or move them place to place.

anyways, enough ranting. you could try getting it flashed? sounds like WSOD to me. but if it is hardware related, you could try fixing it yourself.

Your in a terrible situation and I feel bad for you. Your not going to get anything out of Nokia so you need to start looking into alternatives. You can try and do a physical hard reset and hope that does it. i cant remember the key code but it involves botting it with the green button pressed and a few others. You can search hofo or the web for the sequence. You can also send it to iunlock.com and let them take a gander at it. That really sucks and I'm hoping that it doesnt happen with the N95 as i'm obviously going to buy it unsupported by Nokia as well. I wish they would offer the same kind of warranties they did with the 8800/8801. It was good no matter where you bought the phone.

Thanks for all the replies.

I contacted the site that sold me the phone, they will ship it back to Malaysia for me and Nokia will fix it because the warranty only covers the vendor... So i got a quote... It's going to cost about 75 dollars.. But i'm going to see if any shops can help me flash the phone.

Thanks again for the support.

i got the white screen on my n80 too and i replaced the screen and it works great now, but if you trust that site and can get it repaired through nokia for $75 then that is your best option.

It sucks but don't blame Nokia 100%.
Mobile carriers won't let them import and support some models in the US, like the E61

OP If you know someone in the original sales location of your phone. They can take it to be repaired for you, that articel says

hey danny,

how much did it cost to repair the screen? I just want to get an idea on how much it will cost. I will ask around to see if someone can to it locally.

thanks

i ordered the screen from the UK and it cost me about $80 after shipping.

there are cheaper screens out there but most the ones i saw come from hong kong and i have had bad experience with phone parts from there
