I have suffered from iron defficency for 5 years now. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with iron defficiency anemia. I had an iron infusion in April to boost my levels. I have undergone a colonoscopy and endoscopy to see whether they could see any reason why I may not be absorbing iron; or losing it somewhere. The scopes came back completely fine. The drs decided that it must be my period that is causing the anemia. I have had my period stopped for the last 3 months. I recently had another iron study blood test, which shows that my iron levels are all low again and I am anemic. I am now booked in for another iron infusion in January. I am just wondering if anyone has or knows someone who has a similar story. I am fed up with having all the possible tests done and still no answers. I am 24 and have a very high iron rich diet, which I have been on since the iron deficiency was diagnosed in 2004.
