okay now i have the answers. i just dont know how to get them. ive tried many ways.

ok heres the question:

Q) Jeff stands on top of a 100 m cliff. He holds his biology textbook over the edge and throws it straight up at 23 m/s. on the way back down, he doesnt catch it but lets it fall. how far is the book above his hand after:

a) 1.5 s

b) 2.3 s

c) 3.1 s

d) 4.6 s

e) 5.2 s

Now the way i think of doing this is velocity = distance over time. and using this equation, i get the wrong answers. here are the right answers.

a) 23.25 m

b) 26.45 m

c) 23.25 m

d) 0 m

e) -8.7 m

how did they get these answers? i need to know cuz i have a final coming up. all help is greatly appreciated ;)
