I'm trying to connect from my tv's (Samsung LN52A650) optical audio output to my receiver (YAMAHA HTR-5660) optical input. I purchased a basic toslink to toslink cable. My problems are that (1) the cable doesn't snap into the tv input..it seems that it should be the right size, but if I get it in at all, it's very loose and at an angle. Problem 2 is that the optical inputs on my receiver seem a totally different size and the cable doesn't fit at all. Before I purchased, there was nothing in the manuals that mentioned specific sizes...just "optical". Anyway, any suggestions/info would help. Is there, perhaps, an optical adapter for the receiver problem???
note: since the receiver doesn't have hdmi, I'm hooking components (ie blu-ray, cable box) directly to the tv (using hdmi) and then using the tv audio (hopefully optical) out to the receiver.
