Help with my Fujitsu Siemens Laptop?

i have a fujitsu siemens amilo and they power ran out, when i put the charger in suddenly the screen was not working, it turns on and makes the usual noises (not windows sounds) the lights for the num lock are on and when i hold the off button the screen flashes on and straight off again, so i know the screen is working
