other kinds of fish. If one of...? these fish is to be chosen at random, what is the probability that the fish chosen will be a trout?
(a) 7/12
(b) 1/2
(c) 5/12
(d) 1/3
(e) 1/4
So I know that the answer is C, but I'm confused. Why do we divide by 5? It has to be 25/5 and 60/5 = 5/12. But why did we choose 5? Is it because 5 is the difference between each number? (25 trout and 20 bass).
2. If k^1/3 = k/4 and k is not equal to 0, then what is the value of k^2?
(a) 2
(b) 7
(c) 8
(d) 16
(e) 64
k^1/3 = k/4
4k^1/3 = k
4 = k^2/3 (where does the 2^3 come from????)
k = 4^3/2 = 2^3 = 8 (what happend to the 4...why does it become 2^3???)
k^2 = 8^2 = 64
So E is the answer.

Sorry about that!
Jacinta, E is the answer, but why?? The answer is NOT C
