Help with language techniques in the following quotes!?

These quotes are from Romulus my father, I need language techniques for them cos I'm writing an essay and I cant think of any good techniques for them. Please help, you don't have to give and answer for each quote , just the ones you know. Thanx. Also if you know any other quotes that relate to Belonging in Romulus my father esp in relation to belonging to self and belonging to culture, please tell me.

language techniques like : similes, metaphors, emotive language, anaphora, bathos etc.
It would be good if i good get some more sophisticated ones from you guys, but just post what u know
