Help with guitar electronics?

hey, im in the process of making my 2nd guitar, the first one i just used parts of one of my older guitars, now im making one from scratch. the question is, how do i know what tone and volume knobs (electric) to use with the pick ups?? if anyone knows what to do, or knows a website i would appreciate it
