im reading through some economics books and been looking at famous quotes and would like someone to give me their interpretation on this one: "Economy is a method by which we prepare today to afford the improvements of tomorrow." Calvin Coolidge.
thank youu :)

The term "economy" by Coolidge means "saving" or "thrift". Thus by saving or being thrifty now, you will have assets/savings to afford things you need in the future.
