Hi I'm a leader at my local youth club and I'm carrying out a small project over a few weeks with the young members. I wanted the kids to engage with drugs awareness in way which will interest them and furthermore where they will have fun. I have already brought them to a prison where they could talk to some prisoners, and get first hands experience with the people who's lives have been destroyed by narcotics. Anywho... now I'm compiling images/photographs of the kids how they would look/act if they experienced the negative effects of drug use, and arranging them into a comic book montage of images conveying their story. Before you ask, yes I'm a photographer with a degree and know how to do this.
Some of the guys and gals of the youth club have came up with some great stories integrating certain aspects of drug use such as mental illnesses, hospitalization, peer pressure, addiction, law troubles, relationship conflicts, and how one drug leads to another. But I need some more stories, since I'm unfortunately unable to get more time to create more stories (insurance, and limited 2hr/week). Now keep in mind these kids are around 12-15 years old, so a 12 year old heroin user may seem a little unlikely.
Now it I'm also integrating stories of forms of bullying and child abuse, typical scenarios which may lead to drug use.
The more stories the better. Draw on own life stories to add a realism dimension to a story! Creative/unusual stories are welcome as well!
Just remember this isn't for a 10 point answer, you are helping create drug awareness among adolescents and kids who just seem to be informed incorrectly about drug use in a community where titles such as "heroin blackspot, kip, scumbag town" have been given!
Many thanks in advance!
