Help with debating please?

We are discussing 'waste' food waste etc. and are affirmative.
i am first speaker and have finished my team line, but how do i start presenting the first half of the case?
How do I shift from the team line to discussing why we are a wasteful society?
Can you please give me an example?
 
what if you start off by saying, all of us know, or should know that bring born in American gives us great priveleges, we are a country of abundance.......but with that abundance comes alot of waste.....we have so much and take it for granted....we eat what we want and throw away what we dont want.....cause we know there is almost more ... we leave lights on when we aren' home or in a room, some of us feel above recycling cause we feel we have better things to do or are just lazy.......if we didnt have as much we would think twice about throwing away the other 1/2 of that sandwich, or putting our nose up at something mom cooked that we aren't in the mood to eat.......
