I got a point and shoot 2 years ago, just to take snapshots of my newborn, but then I really started to love photography. I borrowed a friends camera (Canon EOS 3000) for about the last year and a half, and now he needs it back... I was planning on buying a new camera anyway, so I need some advice. I am strictly beginner, and I have never taken any courses or anything, however I would like to go to school and make a career of this someday when I have more time. I would like a camera that is fairly easy and straightforward to use, and will also kind of carry me through this beginner stage, to a more advanced stage. I realize I will eventually have to upgrade, but I would like it to last me at *least* a few years. A camera that will grow woth me, I guess you could say.
Also, it would be ok if it was a tiny bit impressive :) I dont like really small, mickey mouse looking camera's, I want to look like I have invested into this.
Thanks :)
EDIT!!!!
I want a digital camera!!
Jeeze I should have thought this out more before typing it lol.

I want a digital camera, and I would like the kind that you actually zoom like with a film camera, not by pushing a button. I want to be able to look through the viewfinder, as opposed to looking at the little screen.
Basically the way a film camera works!! Just digital :)
Thanks

easy a cannon digital slr (single lens reflects)
their pricey
but i love mine
they take wonderful pictures
just go to the cannon website
and they have many wonderful cameras to choose from

they zoom just like your talking about
and they also make you look professional

I like my Kodak Easyshare camera. They are inexpensive and work well with great quality, it's 5.0 megapixels which isn't the best but it's not bad.
My husband has a Sony Cybershot that he paid like 300 for, I just dont like it because it's really small...
Also, with the easyshare you get the program for editing, it's easy to transfer, and you also get the use of the online gallery to send to friends and family.
