Is it better to get a business administration degree with a finance concentration and then get a minor in accounting or get a business administration degree with a concentration in accounting and then get a minor in finance? For salary wise.

Interesting question - I think it depends on short term gain, or long term stability.

Finance of course is where all the money is (Wall Street), HOWEVER, jobs will be more rare, and you will miss out on official Accounting training which will be very WIDELY marketable forever, and applicable to all companies, and in all aspects of life. Are you going to be a Wall Street star?

If you take the route of Accounting as the Major, and Finance as the Minor, you will always be more widely marketable forever, and the likelihood of getting promotions more often is greater, you will in time learn everything about finance that you need to, to get ahead, AND at any time you could have your own Accounting/Tax business and one day reach charging $100/hour. Having your own Finance business earning as much as an Accounting/Tax business is much more difficult. You could STILL be a Wall Street Star, while at the same time marketable across every company there is. More companies need Accounting trained personnel than Finance trained personnel.

I think for the long term you will be ahead of the game if you take the official Accounting training and have that in your pocket for the rest of your life and continue to ADD finance, as opposed to saying you took "some accounting". In Accounting you will learn tons of Finance anyway...

Accounting is the better "stepping stone" for the future... If you think you're going to be a Finance Wiz Wall Street SuperStar immediately, then Finance is the best.
