Hi all,

I have suffered from bad breath for 8 years, and have recently discovered that I think it's related to dairy. I've given up dairy for a year, and it seems to have helped - I now go through days at a time without symptoms. However, the problem remains for around 70% of the time.

Each time the problem does recur, I get a very strong smell that seems to come from my throat, and has no obvious source in my mouth. I often also have the feeling that there is something in the top of the back of my throat/in my nasal passage, which feels like mucus - I have to regularly clear my throat.

Needless to say, I've tried every breath freshening product on the market, with mixed results, both before and after settling on the diary link. I've seen dentists, who say there is no source in my mouth. I floss, use mouthwash, and in fact brush my teeth around six times a day (I have tried less, and it doesn't make the problem better).

The problem dominates my life - I avoid going out, avoid relationships, and often avoid even avoid speaking. I am confident that it's a real problem - others have told me about the problem, I've overheard people mention it to others, and people often offer me gum and mints, flinch or cover their noses when talking to me.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the best products I could use, given the likely association with dairy? Does anyone know what causes this kind of response to dairy, and any dietary, medical or surgical treatments that might reduce/eliminate the response? (I am vegetarian - could that be relevant?) Is intolerance to any other fooRAB commonly associated with a dairy allergy? - ie, are there other fooRAB that I should experiment with avoiding?

Any thoughts that helped would genuinely transform my life.

In hope, David
