Explain why the presence of spectral lines of a given element in the solar spectrum tells you that element is present in the sun, but the absence of the lines would not mean the element was absent from the sun.
Possibly at concentrations to small to be observed.
maybe located deep in the core. Absorption spectra would require light of the the frequency to pass through a region where the light was absorbed by the element in a quantum electron transition. If the elements were not in that location there wouldbe no effect.
