For my AP Lit class, I'm asked to write the following essay:
according to the English novelist George Meredith, "The true test of comedy is that is shall awaken thoughtful laughter." In a well-developed essay, discuss how Meredith's statement applies to both George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion and Oscar Wilde's the The Importance of Being Earnest.
The problem is I don't know where to start. Anyone have any ideas? I read both plays, but The Importance of Being Earnest confused me.
