I have parrot cichlids (hybrid) and two of them have ammonia burns, and one is severe (black spots all over his body and head). So today, I did a 30% water change, added zeolite chips to the filter, and added some API Ammo-Lock. About 5 minutes after the water change, I tested for ammonia using a liquid test (not test strips) and the result came out as 0 ppm.
If the ammonia level is 0 ppm, then why do my fish still have ammonia burns on them?
And also, do I need to continue changing water every day? If so, how much?
~Thanks
