i recently purchased a w580i and love the phone so far, but it did come with alota junk that i dont really care to have on it. like some of the ringtones, pictures, etc. i didnt have any problems with transferring music, themes, or pictures from my computer to the phone. and creating and transferring my own ringtones was an easy process. but i can only access files on the "phone card" when i connect my phone to my computer with a usb data cable. i would like to be able to have access to my internal memory as well so i can get rid of some things i dont really need or want, but i cant figure out how to do so??? ive read that there isnt any way to change whats on the phone itself, and ive also heard about the 13 sec trick that to me just seems like a bad idea (idk if that only works for certain phones or not anyway). any help would be great though! ive tried to figure this out myself but i suck

You will not be able to remove some of the supplied pictures and ringtones from the phone as they are protected files. You can remove them via modding the phone, but that's a bit beyond worthwhile in this instance. If you're ONLY wanting to delete some of the stuff on the internal memory, anything that can be deleted, you will be able to do so on the phone itself. Anything that you cannot delete on the phone will NOT be deletable via a PC without modding as I've explained.

If you still want to access the phone storage from the PC, try heading to 'My Computer ' and see if any other extra drives have appeared there other than the memory card. If the worst comes to the worst, simply copy over to the memory card what you want to store on the phone's internal memory, and move it there via the phone itself. :D

yeah i have deleted what i was able to on the phone itself but there are some files on there still. i dont understand why sony would let u delete some things and not others. o well. ill check and see if my computer picks up any other drives next time though, thanks for the help

I'm not sure why they only encrypt some of the files... On all the Sony Ericssons I have, it's always a few of the pictures, the 'Sony Ericsson' ringtone, the 'Greeting' ringtone and the 'Not Late' ringtone. Ah well, to be honest most of the locked content only takes up about 2MB anyway, so it's not the end of the world. :) It does get annoying though.....
