Ok, I am nearing the age of 18 when I can join the Marines without needing permission. I know that few other things would give as much/more pride than serving with the USMC, but my dad says I'm stupid to enlist when I'm "smart enough to be an officer". He says that the Marines get the worst jobs and are cannon fodder. Is any of that even close to true? If I were to enlist, would college after my enlistment be far fetched? Is my dad right, meaning do I sound foolish for thinking about joining?
