Help with 8550

use bitpim...open the filesystem and navigate to \OWS\paramtable1.fil

sopy that file to your pc...open that file in a hex editor...change the third hex pair from 00 to 20...you do that on the left side of the hex editor...

go back to bitpim and overwrite the paramtable1.fil file

now go and change your wap settings and they will stick...

also- make sure you backup your file before editing it...that way if you do something stupid, you can fix it...always back it up!!!

btw- you can look at berry's vx9900 tutorial to get screenshots of this...

i also use the 8500 dll for all chocolates...works like a charm for me...if you get tired of messing with it, then i'll take that POS...lol

I just flashed a 8550 (thanks berry for your tut) and got everything working but internet. I am using berrys paramtable file. When I go to News and Info it will start connecting but will give me: HTTP Error 504: Gateway Timeout. After that if I go to Menu and select VZW Home it will take me to the cricket homepage but if I try and select anything else like Go To URL or Search it will give me the same 504 Error. Am I missing something or what am I doing wrong. Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

I use the vx9900 dll for every lg, it works perfectly.

jramos402: that's normal on a flashed verizon phone. verizon set something up in their settings that made the Go To URL and Search features direct you to a verizon webpage. In berry's tutorial there's a paramtable1.fil that has those settings edited so that you don't have to change the home page just to view a different website. I'm 85% sure that it will work on the 8550 (it worked on the 8500 no problem).

Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys. I just got it to work. I had to keep overwriting the paramtable file. I dont know how or why but somehow it kept managing to revert itself back to normal even after overwriting with berrys file. All is well now tho.

As a side note, I used the 8500 dll for this one.

You're right. I've had it happen to me but I can't remeraber exactly which phone it was... I want to say the 9800...

Yeah the 9800 is the one that it wouldn't work on (for me anyways) the username ended up becoming the password and the vice versa.

a good way to tell is if some of the fielRAB you need to change are blank when you read form the phone...that usually means that it's not reading form the right place...or if the information is there, but it's not the right info...like what you said, the username is in the password...

you can always change what is available and then use the phones hidden menu to change other things...any last items can be hex edited in the filesystem...this is only if you have a phone that has no dll or the dll doesn't offer an nv edit option...like the 5200.
