Hey Guys/Gals,
I am new here so go easy on me. I need a little help with a bike I was given, a 1980 GS 450. I am having a problem where copus amounts of fuel is backing up into the airbox and the left cylinder while running. I initially thought it was a carboation problem so I pulled the carbs off, cleaned them inside and out checking all the jets, floats, needles and diaphriams. Everything is in order, and based one the deposits of fuel left in the intake ports it is all coming in through the left side only. When I went to reasemble it I noticed that the vacuum port on the left carb (the only vacuum port) is hooked up to a second line coming from the petcock and there is fuel entering the carb here??? My question is what is that vacuum port supposed to be hooked up to? And where does the secondary line coming off the petcock go?
