Here is my situation - Both me and my wife have verizon accounts - but two seperate accounts. My wife needs a new phone, but is about 8 months away from being able to upgrade. I am due for an upgrade, but am happy with my phone. I am also currently deployed to the middle east while she is back home.

Here is my question: I have access to the internet - If I log into my verizon account and go to Upgrade my phone, and buy a discounted phone online from verizons website - when it shows up at our house can my wife take that phone and just activate it on her account? If I buy the phone online it won't automatically de-activate my current phone correct?

So to sum it up - if I upgrade my phone from verizons website - can my wife activate it when it is delivered on her account?

Thanks for your help!!

When upgrading you would have to activate the new phone on your line first, Which can be done on the internet, When you activate it on your line first, That is what "Accepts Terms and Conditions" to the new contract, Once it is activated she can then move it to her line, And you can put your phone back. Hope this helps, and didnt confuse you.

OK cool - I think I get it. So if I order it and have her email me the ESN when she receives it, I can than activate it online. Right after I activate it online I can take the ESN on my phone and re-activate my phone on-line. From there she can then activate the new phone on her account. Correct?

And I take it there is just a link or something under my account somewhere on the verizon page? Thx

Well, she will need to possibly on the phone (not a cell phone) with you so you can give her instructions.

Once the ESN is entered online (and your phone is deactivated temporarily) she will need to dial *228 option 1 from her new phone (from you). Then you would need to reactivate your phone on the line immediately following that (recommend waiting 5 minutes in between activations, maybe longer). Then once your phone is back on your line, dial *228 option 1 from your line. Then the new phone is free for her to activate.

If your heading home in 2 weeks, and your planning on doing this when you get there, you can just go to any Verizon Store and have them do it all for you.

Save you some time and headaches.

Yeah that sounds easier. The verizon store won't give me trouble trying to do this? Also online at verizon I can get a Voyager for 29.99$ - will it be the same price at the store? thx

Generally, pricing is closely the same. Sometimes, online will give you an instant rebate while the store will force you to mail it in. Mail in rebates only take a few weeks with Verizon, so you shouldn't have a big issue.
