Hi there, I'm trying to remember the name of a game I played with friends about 15 years ago. It was PC based, and one of the early games where you could connect with each other via a modem and play.
The game was similar in some ways to chess or Stratego but you had an army of monsters. Prior to the game, you would pick the monsters in your team and then line them up on your side of a terrain. The game would start, and you would advance your monsters to kill the other team. I remember that each monster had different abilities, including one that was could a Scythe or a Spectre or something that could burrow into the ground and then come up at random places on the playing field. As far as I can remember, the game had fairly creepy graphics and music (at least for the time).
Please help! Its driving me crazy.
