Can't stop smiling x)

Okay, so this guy in my class (sam) asks me like 'I know you like me. Don't make lame excuses' , passes notes in class saying you stole my heart, give it back, says 'Hi' everytime he sees me with a wide smile on his face, but i've NEVER seen him looking at me during lessons. He already asked me on a date twice, but I ignored him, because I'm not sure what his real motives are. Only because he hangs out with this guy (Like) who was CRAZY about me, and the other day when Sam walked me home (he was asking me on a date that day as well), Luke was far right behind him, and my other friend, who saw Luke, says she saw Sam looking back with a cheeky smile on his face. Am I being set up? And 2 days ago, we had this 4 second stare moment (he had a soft smile on his face), and the next day I saw him, he totally tried to avoid me, like he knew I was at the tennis court, and he turned and hurried away, the moment he saw me there (My friend told me that, as I had my back to the entrance door). And after that day, in class, in the first period he didnt say a word to me, but sat infront of me, and when Luke came (he came for second period), he started to bug me again. WTF is going on? I'm so confused. Should I go on a date with Sam? Does he truly like me and is that why he's bugging and being mean because I rejected his offer? Or am I being just plain paranoid? Or...? >:/
