I'm in contract w/ FSBO in NJ. Atty review is over & I had my home insp come. After his report, I found the home needs a new furnace, new water heater, new roof, attic doesn't have proper ventilation and attic fan not working, water stains and large black mold and rusted nails throughout attic, bedroom door broken, side entry door rusted through and frame cracked, all windows need screens, loose electrical wiring, water stains underneath tub & slow drain on toilet, severe uneven kitchen header, mold area in basement, plumbing shoddily fixed, no permits were ever gotten from the town for any work the guy did, the shed outside is severely rotted, insulation needed in areas, there are no GFCI outlets...did I miss something?
I am so very very stressed. What can I do now? I want out.
The guy wants to just give me $2500. Thats nothing for what needs to be done. Laywers not helping too much. Anyone have suggestions! I need psychotherapy to survive buyin a house, I swear! :(

There should have been a home inspection clause in the initial contract of sale. This gives you about 10 days after the home inspection to be able to cancel the contract. I would contact your lawyer as soon as possible, so that the time does not expire, and you lose your rights. I would make sure you get a copy of his correspondence to the other attorney canceling the contract, with the fax confirmation. Please note that I am not an attorney, so you should contact your attorney immediately for his legal advice.

Did you buy the house as is?
Contact your mortgage company and the Title company all these thing were suppose to be acknowledge before you bought the house.
I would call the (tax collector)county you live in and ask what the steps to take to get your money back
